In the name of Allah, most Gracious most Merciful

Alhamdulillah, its weekend and I have some time to blog after nice lunch and coming back from the hospital. Its a new posting for us and this posting is predictably tougher since its the second round of the posting. Expectation is higher from everybody around you and you are expected to PERFORM!

Anyway, enough about the posting. I just want to share why I chose the name of this blog as it is. The reason being that I really like the dawn time. For the days in which I were able to wake up early before dawn and perform 2 rakaah Taubah and Tahajjud prayer really make up my day. Often would I feel extra energetic, more cheerful, less stressed, and insyaAllah calmer. That is why I really like this time.

But, sadly to say now I often woke up after azan....
I cannot let this thing happen. NO! definitely cannot! I have to get back to my usual routine.

Today is all that you have

It took me months before I start blogging again. Alhamdulillah, today is the 3rd Jan 2010 and it is already a whole new year and insyaallah a whole new beginning. Just like the previous years, I dont really make lists of what to achieve this year as I believe as a muslim mu'min I should improve on daily basis. Nevertheless, I did make a few targeted aims in my head and one of them is to seriously start blogging.
It is going to be tough since being a clinical medical student you dont really have time to play around (although honestly I always do that) but Insyallah I take this as a challenge to share and as a reminder to my own self.
Just a reminder to myself before leaving as I quoted from Dont Be Sad:
"Today is my only day"' is one of the most important statements in the dictionary of happiness, for those who desire to live life in its fullest splendor and brilliance.

The past is gone forever, today is all that you have, and leave the future alone until it comes.
Selamat Berjuang di jalan-NYA

freedom writers

In the name of Allah most Gracious most Merciful

I just finished watching the 'freedom writers' movie. Initially I was only planning to check on this movie but in the end it hooked me into my seat. Watching this movie makes me think about few important things which I consider crucial. Well, at least for me.

I think the director, the casts and everyone behind the scene had done their job well. I want to touch on one thing that caught my attention. Although it was only for a short moment and perhaps not everybody noticed it, I realized that the students when they went for visit to the museum, it was actually for the 'Holocaust" victims. For those who did not know the true story of the holocaust victims will actually sympathized these Jews who were forced and even killed to leave the countries they were living. However, whatever the Nazis did to them cannot be compared to what they were and are currently doing to the Palestinean people whom they are still trying to obtain the possession of their so called 'promised land'. STOP. I am not going to comment on this further for fear of diverting from my original points.

My points are how these Non Muslim directors were able to convey religious messages or to influence the audiences subtlely/indirectly through films.

My next point is, why aren't there any of such films from Malaysia?
Hmmm, Iranians directors can win international awards with the female casts still protecting their aurahs and even with such simple message like shoes. Malaysian films from my point of views are still commercially orientated in which it is for profit based as well as to satisfy this world of hedonism and jahiliyyah.
I am not against films because I think that films are very powerful media to convey the messages of Islam and its purity be it subtle or direct. For now films like 'syurga cinta' or 'syukur 21' are good starts and I am hoping that more will come in the futures with better scripts, casts, stories, and directors.

ps: If only I am not future doctor perhaps I will consider being an Islamic actress. Well, you know sort of a trend setter. Hmmm

Ramadhan...

Peluklah Ramadhan ini seerat mungkin, kerana tiba masanya kita terpaksa melepaskannya. Andai RAMADHAN ini yang terakhir, moga ini yang TERBAIK di sisiNYA....

Pleasure of his LORD

"Whoever seeks the pleasure of Allah at the risk of displeasing the poeple, Allah will take care of him and protect him from them. But whoever seeks the pleasure of the people at the risk of angering Allah, Allah will abandon him to the care of the people"
